That's all well and good, but what is the Children's University?

Established in 2007, Children’s University (CU) is an international critically acclaimed charity, which encourages all children aged 5 to 14 years to try new experiences, develop new interests and acquire new skills outside of the school day.

We work with children to ignite their passion for learning, build their self-confidence and demonstrate the real-world relevance of school subjects.

Children can only aspire to what they know and we want every young person to expect more for their future, to be aware of the options available to them, and to be confident that, whichever direction they choose, they can make a success of it.

Children's University consists of 90 national centres as well as an international network encompassing South Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and, soon, China and Tasmania.

We work within local communities to encourage all children, but particularly those who need it most, to participate, voluntarily, in the range of innovative and creative activities included in our programme, which are designed to:

  • Raise aspiration, self-esteem & confidence
  • Encourage curiosity and a love of learning
  • Enhance motivation and build resilience
  • Introduce new life experiences
  • Offer progression in learning and personal skills development

The ultimate testament to the effectiveness of CU is that, with an expanding Child Membership, we know that children are motivated to give up their time to attend and, with the comments and recommendations of parents, teachers, learning providers and the children themselves, we know they are engaged and inspired too.
